Q: What is Envirothon?

A: Envirothon is an environmental science competition. During the competition, teams of 5 high school students complete an outdoor field test and oral presentation. See What is Envirothon/Getting Started for more information.

Q: How do I start an Envirothon team?

A: All you need is 5 students grades 9-12 (can be mixed grades) and follow the steps listed at What is Envirothon/Getting Started.

Q: What do I study for Envirothon?

A: Teams study 5 topic areas: Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Soils and Land Use, Wildlife and a current Theme. All study materials are provided by the Manitoba Envirothon Steering Committee and they can be found at Resources.

Q. How do we know what to study?

A: Each of the 4 core topic areas (Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Soils and Land Use, and Wildlife) contain a resource entitled "Document". In this document, there is a list of Envirothon Learning Outcomes. Read these outcomes and ensure that you understand and can complete each one because these Outcomes are testable.

Outcomes for the theme are listed on the Theme Resources page.

All study materials can be found at Resources.

The Envirothon Rules and Procedure document can provide you with more details about the regional and provincial competitions.
