  • Are you a teacher of history, science, social studies, language, music or art?
  • Are you interested in helping your students to better understand the important role natural resources play in our daily lives?
  • Are you looking for a fun, interactive way to illustrate the need for wise use and protection of these precious resources?

If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, the Manitoba Forestry Association’s (MFA) Forests in the Classroom in-school program may be just what you are looking for.

Forests in the Classroom provides curriculum-based presentations for students Kindergarten to grade 4. Our goal is not to offer a single lesson, but a basis in natural resource management that can be used in conjunction with current classroom study. Presentaions feature a combination of interactive activites on renewable resources, a visit with Bruce the Spruce, and short informative talks. Programs also include lessons and activites teachers can complete with your students before and after our classroom visit. The Presentations range from 30-minutes to 60 minutes depending on your need.

Program Cost: Two (2) programs $100.00 plus GST (during a morning or afternoon). Four (4) programs $170.00 plus GST (full day). Mileage fees applicable to schools outside of Winnipeg. Limited funding is available to cover mileage fees, please call for further information on available funding.

Grade 5 to Grade 8 teachers! Check back in 2010 for new programs for your students.

Forests in the Classroom is truly a fun, meaningful way to bring nature to your students. Contact us today to arrange a visit to your classroom.
