September - A Month to Celebrate our Trees!
Manitoba Sustainable Development and Manitoba Forestry Association celebrate National Forest Week with free seedling giveaways
Our forests are a valuable asset to our economy and a vital part of our environment, critical to wildlife, soil stability, water resources and life itself. Trees are the lungs of the earth.
September is a perfect month to learn more about the trees and forests in your community!
- September 18 to 24, 2016 is National Forest Week. This year's theme is True North, Strong and Green, recognizing how communities, families and individuals depend on forests for their livelihood and way of life.
- September 21st marks National Tree Day in Canada. Each year, National Tree Day is celebrated on the Wednesday of National Forest Week.
In honour of National Forest Week and National Tree Day, Manitoba Sustainable Development, in partnership with the Manitoba Forestry Association, will be providing individual white spruce seedlings (Manitoba's provincial tree) at no cost to the public!
