Through the Trees for Tomorrow program, the province and its partners has planted over one million trees every year between 2008 and 2012. It’s the province’s action plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2012.

During National Forest Week 2012, September 23 -29, the Trees for Tomorrow program ended with  planting of the sixth million tree at The Forks by the Premier Greg Selinger on National Tree Day - September 26, 2012.
