Guide, for Manitoba Envirothon Teams, to Selected Aquatics Sections of the
Soil & Water Conservation Society of Metro Halifax Web Site

The Soil & Water Conservation Society of Metro Halifax maintains a comprehensive set of web pages pertaining to a range of environmental topics. The information provided on these pages is taken from a variety of expert sources, most of which are referenced on these pages. A few of these pages, under the general heading of "Limnology", explain topics in aquatic ecology. A subset of these topics and concepts (see below) have been selected as Aquatics reference material for Manitoba Envirothon teams.

This collection of web pages includes many other links with additional details and concepts that may be of interest and help to provide a broader context for understanding of aquatic ecosystems. However, the information on the selected pages and topics listed below should be sufficient to enable Envirothon teams to answer possible questions on these topics.

The following listing provides clickable direct internet links to the specific web pages and sub-section topics with which Envirothon teams should be familiar as part of their preparations for possible field testing in Aquatics. Students may gain direct access to each listed topic by clicking on the highlighted word(s). Alternatively, one may also enter the Limnology home page and navigate to the other topics from within the site, but be advised that there are many additional internal links to topics not listed below, and to information not required for Envirothon.
